We write about 20 original scripts every month for our workshop students to perform as exercises in auditioning and scene study. Once the students have performed them, we make final revisions and file them away. Now we are offering our original scripts written in teleplay format to all actors and coaches who seek original scenes to perform for acting workshops.
How we use "Mock Sides"
The audition sides actors get for TV and film are taken from a teleplay or screenplay. The actor often has no idea what the whole story is about and has to determine the purpose and meaning of their character and the scene. This is usually an "educated guess" for the actor even if they are given character breakdowns.
"Mock Sides" are audition practice scripts. The scripts are given to our students when they arrive to class. Students are not given any character description or instruction other then to execute a "quick scene study". The actor's objective is to understand the story, genre, pacing, and purpose of the scene and it's characters.
Although, DS StudioWorks actors are required to memorize and perform the scenes in as little as 45 minutes, any actor can use these scenes to practice in any process they have been trained.
Some of the scripts are self-contained stories, some are written in particular TV and film genre. The Mock Sides are a perfect resource for actors and acting coaches. Go ahead and download any script for free!
“Accidents” Chad Schnackel & David A. Dalton

Synopsis: Willow discovers bruises and bumps on her friend, Ashley, who is unwilling to reveal what caused them. After some coaxing, Willow discovers Ashley’s secret and it’s a difficult situation.

Synopsis: Kayla’s mom tries to console Kayla and explain why they have to put their family dog “to sleep”. Kayla is devastated.
NOTE: THE GIRL PLAYING KAYLA MUST BE ABLE TO START THE SCENE ALREADY IN TEARS AND CARRY IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SCENE.

Synopsis: Private “Supernatural” Investigators Helen and Jordan arrive at a boxing gym to interview local tough guy, Jack Houston, about his involvement in a human massacre they believe was a werewolf attack. Helen suspects Jack may be a newly inducted werewolf, but needs more evidence.
